Step back into the elegance of the late 1930s with this 5-piece Art Deco afternoon tea service by BCM / Nelson Ware (Elijah Cotton), crafted in Stoke-on-Trent, England.

This beautiful vintage collection features the highly collectible, discontinued, "TSING" pattern (British Registration Number 822626, issued in 1937). The design features a striking Chinoiserie style exotic paradise bird perched amongst vibrant pink peonies, yellow blossoms, and traditional pagodas. The composition is beautifully framed by an intricate geometric cobalt blue border and finished with hand-painted gold lustre geometric accents along the handles and rims.

One cake/sandwich platter and 4 small plates.....these will elevate any afternoon tea.

Combined Net Weight: 925g (unpacked)
Platter Approx 33 x 16 cm
Plates Approx just under 15 x 15 cm

• Pattern Name: TSING (Reg No. 822626)
Fine English Earthenware / Semi-Porcelain

Platter: Features factory shape stamp '7136' impressed into the raw clay.
• Side Plates: Stamped with period mold codes '5136' and '9735'.
• Artisan Detail: The undersides feature original hand-painted decorators' initials, a classic hallmark of hand-finished pre-war Staffordshire pottery.

Wonderful vintage condition consistent with age. Colours remain incredibly vibrant. There is beautiful, clean age-related crazing under the glaze which adds exceptional authentic character to 1930s earthenware. The gold rims are in remarkabl condition with only faint wear. No structural cracks, chips, or restoration.
Tiny dimples or pin-pricks on the undersides of the pieces are authentic kiln stilt marks from the 1930s manufacturing process, showing where the ceramics were supported inside the firing oven.
