An exquisite Victorian cranberry glass creamer jug. Entirely hand-blown, this vibrant pink art glass pitcher features a classic ruffled rim, a gracefully looped clear glass handle, an applied crimped rigaree collar around the neck, and stands beautifully on hand-formed clear glass shell feet. This was a highly specialised technique that was perfected in the 1880s.
Height: Approx. 10 cm (4 inches)
Width (including handle): Approx. 8 cm (3.15 inches)
Weight: 184 gramsBase:
Rough snapped pontil mark
This antique creamer is in good vintage condition. It has a notable fracture line in between the ruffled rim and the collar which can be felt as a slight ridge on the interior glass surface (clearly highlighted with an arrow in the photograph) . The exterior remains smooth to the touch. It remains a perfectly stable, beautiful piece for cabinet display. As an authentic hand-crafted piece from the Victorian era, the glass exhibits charming trapped air bubbles and a fascinating factory anomaly in the lower body...an internal dark thread and some clusters/single spots of black carbon/ash soot particles trapped completely inside the glass wall from the historic kiln furnace, (see photographs with arrows). This adds great historical character to the piece!
