A beautiful and rare piece of Italian ceramic art history, this genuine mid-century vintage majolica cream jug or wine pitcher was hand-crafted by the highly respected artisan partnership of Marani and Dalfiume in Massa Lombarda (Ravenna), Italy.
Featuring the world-renowned and traditional "Raffaellesco" Renaissance Revival pattern, it showcases a beautiful green acanthus leaf scrollwork accented with touches of yellow, striking red and rich cobalt blue hand-painted details. The main body is the palest of blue/grey tone.
The base bears the exclusive, authentic hand-painted signature and printed workshop certification of Faenza Artistica—the global historic capital of traditional tin-glazed faience pottery.
An incredible acquisition for collectors of regional Italian ceramics or anyone curating a luxury Mediterranean or grandmillennial tablescape.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with exceptionally bright, glossy hand-painted glaze work. The main body of the piece is beautifully clean and entirely free of chips, cracks, structural fractures, or restorations.
The underside bottom rim shows some signs of vintage wear and small nibbles, which are also very slightly visible on the green outward facing rim band. It also has normal, age-appropriate internal glaze crazing concentrated at the inner base, which beautifully highlights its genuine vintage age and hand-thrown character.
