Charming original mixed media textile artwork – a framed and hand embroidered bluebell and lavender field/woodland.
Created by regional artist Maureen Robinson, Nottingham, and dating from the late 1990s this delicate piece beautifully combines two artistic mediums.
The soft rolling hills, distant greenery, and trees in the background are rendered in a gentle watercolour wash. The foreground is brought to life with meticulous, hand-stitched embroidery threads, using textured purple knots to create the distinct look of a blooming lavender field. The artist was from an area blessed with many beautiful English parks and woodlands that are known for stunning bluebell displays in springtime and may have been inspired by these.
It is housed in its original, ornate dark faux-walnut and gilt-edged frame, complete with a circular mat window that perfectly frames the scenic view. Its compact size makes it an ideal addition to a gallery wall, a cozy reading nook, or styled on a bookshelf. There is always a spot somewhere for something this lovely.
Size: Approximately 14cm x 14cm (Square) by approx 3cm deep.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The delicate textile work is beautifully preserved. There is some wear to the frame and gilt but this only serves to make it even more lovely. The artist is named on the rear and I have redacted her personal details on the photograph for the purposes of privacy - the label is actually fully in tact.
Please see the photos and video as these form part of the description.
Ready to hang or display.
